Financial or other help for genuine emergencies may be obtained from charitable organisations. A number of these are listed on the Community Partners page of the Department of Community Services website.

Leaflets and other information on various local community services are often held at local libraries and at local councils.

Allowances and Benefits
Full-time students may be eligible for an allowance such as Youth Allowance (under 25 years) or Austudy . Student allowances and other government benefits & pensions are administered by Centrelink.

The Financial Counsellors' Association of NSW provides information about financial problems and a list of financial counsellors.

Credit Help Line provides referrals to local financial counselling services. Phone: 1800 808 488
