This course is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people wanting to understand and make traditional or contemporary Aboriginal art. The course also prepares you for entry into further study at Certificate IV level visual arts courses.

You learn to construct images exploring your own artistic ideas under the direction of Aboriginal artists and individuals from local community groups. The course gives you an opportunity for personal development and basic training in a variety of visual arts/craft areas, with Aboriginal culture as the context for your art work.

You will learn how to safely apply a range of technical and creative skills. You will also prepare a portfolio which will be useful for gaining entry into further education and training. There are costs involved in doing this course. Your campus will advise you.

Career Opportunities: There are many project-based opportunities in the visual arts and craft areas and support work such as an arts assistant or technical assistant. When you finish this course you can then begin work or work for an employer in the visual arts.

Entry Requirements:CUV20203 Certificate II in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts or equivalent. Preference is given to people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.
