This course is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to acquire knowledge and skills to work in the visual arts industry and/or the Aboriginal arts and crafts community. It also prepares you for further study at Diploma level. You will acquire knowledge, develop technical skills and apply creativity and understanding in a studio-based visual arts and contemporary crafts setting and within the context of your Aboriginal culture. You will create images and objects exploring your own artistic ideas under the direction of Aboriginal artists and individuals from local Aboriginal community and arts groups.

You will also learn about professional practices used by Aboriginal artists in the visual arts industry. The arts areas you can study are: painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, art photography, ceramics, creative technology (digital arts), Aboriginal contextual studies (project based work) with core study areas of contemporary Aboriginal arts, drawing, global art history/theory, exhibition and presentation skills.

Career Opportunities: Artist and/or craftsperson.

Entry Requirements: CUV30203 Certificate III in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts or equivalent. Preference is given to people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.
