This course introduces you to the practical, technical and creative skills used in a range of visual arts areas and prepares you for further study.

You gain practical experience in the safe use of studio-based skills and learn about the history of art practices in the context of the visual arts and contemporary crafts community/industry.

You also learn to construct images following your own artistic ideas under the direction of artist teachers. You gain fundamental drawing, design and composition skills, and an awareness of contemporary arts/crafts practices. You can prepare a portfolio for entry into further training or self-employment/employment opportunities in the visual arts industry. You will also need to purchase materials and cover other costs which may arise during the course. Before you can enrol in this course you must contact the campus or campuses of your choice for details of information sessions and other procedures that may apply. Compulsory attendance at an information session may apply.

Career Opportunities: Assistant to artist, arts related work or self-employment.

Articulation: When you finish this course you may be eligible to do a Certificate IV Visual Arts and Contemporary Crafts .

Entry Requirements: CUV20103 Certificate II in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft or equivalent.

Course related charge: $250.
Successful applicants will be required to present a portfolio at interview in early December 2008.   Details will be advised in writing after the application closing date.
