CUL20204 Certificate II in Museum Practice

This course or traineeship provides the basic skills, knowledge and understanding to perform a range of tasks to be found in museums and galleries and to select and adapt the necessary skills and practices to different contexts and situations. It allows for the selection of specialised electives in one area of the workplace or for multi skilled contexts across the workplace. The course is designed for delivery and/or assessment on the job and within an operational museum or gallery environment. Sometimes this may mean delivery across locations, in partnership with other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), local museums or regional galleries. Contact the provider to confirm where and how the course is delivered.

Career Opportunities: Employed art worker, self-employed arts or crafts related project work, curator, curatorial/technical assistant, in support of museum or gallery operation. Other opportunities exist in areas such as community arts, art galleries, museums, arts consultancy, administration and conservation.

Articulation: When you finish this course you can do other TAFE NSW courses in museum practices, fine arts, ceramics, visual arts, or courses at university.

Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for entry to this course. Trainees must be employed in or have access to a museum or gallery workplace.
