This course is for people who want to perform and compose music at a community level. You will be able to maintain music industry knowledge, and choose to develop skills in stagecraft, MIDI music composition, audition techniques and/or performance skills as a soloist and/or as part of a group.

Career Opportunities: Music composition, music performance at community level.

Articulation: When you finish this course you can continue on to further and related studies in the CUS60101 Advanced Diploma of Music, TAFE course no: 3720 or CUS50101 Diploma of Music, TAFE course no: 7817.

Entry Requirements: Satisfactory completion of Year 12 (or equivalent statement from another educational authority).

Student Selection: Your application will be assessed using the following selection criteria:
1. Ability to play a musical instrument or sing in tune and in time.
2. Display of musical expression.
3. Evidence of technical fluency.

Selection Method: Your selection into this course will be based on the information provided on the TAFE NSW Application Form.

Applicants are expected to perform three contrasting musical pieces using instrument and/or voice. This may be done through an audition before specialist music staff, or, for those applicants challenged by distance, by way of video-taped performance.

Alternative Exit points: Depending on the modules studied you may be eligible to exit with a CUS30101 Certificate III in Music, from the Music Training Package (CUS01). Additional charges apply.
