This course is for people wanting to acquire the skills and knowledge to work in the upholstery sector of the furnishing industry. You will learn how to use upholstery hand and power tools, and will acquire machine sewing techniques, traditional and contemporary upholstery skills, and fabric cutting skills. You will also learn about occupational health and safety, communications, calculations and working with others.

Career Opportunities: With further study you may become a Upholstery tradesperson, manager of a upholstery manufacturing workshop or self-employment in the industry.

Articulation: LMF10102 Certificate I in Furnishing TAFE NSW Course no 7130 provides articulation into this course. Successful completion of this course will provide advanced standing in LMF31002 Certificate III in Upholstery TAFE NSW Course no 7096.

Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for this course. The learner must be employed or have access to a upholstery workplace to be able to gain sufficient experience to successfully achieve the units of competence requirements.
