This course provides an in-depth education in ceramics for people who want to be practising ceramicists, or who want to work in the visual arts and contemporary crafts industry. You learn to develop a vision, direction and style based on a synthesis of cognitive and practical skills, creativity and understanding in a specific ceramics area. You can choose from visual arts, industrial applications or studio production. You learn about professional practices and occupational health and safety requirements. You also learn to work independently, with an emphasis on studio work, based on professional practices in the visual arts and crafts industry.
Career Opportunities: Artist/ceramics craftsperson and sculptor.
Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply for advanced standing or credit transfer into other TAFE NSW arts and media courses or university degree courses.
Entry Requirements: Completion of Year 12 with a minimum of 10 units in the NSW HSC Record of Achievement (or equivalent statement from another educational authority).
