91001NSW Certificate IV in 3D Animation and Digital Effects

This course is for people who want to work in the digital design, 3D animation and effects sector of the film and television industry.

You will learn to visualise, plan and story-board 3D animation project concepts, develop artwork to enable efficient concept visualisation, and participate in the 3D animation production process using current industry standard practices.

You will learn how to produce 3D models, and output broadcast design graphics and character animations using animation and lighting techniques to current industry standards.

You will plan, develop and produce 3D animated projects and interactive digital media productions. You will learn to produce and direct industry standard digital video and audio components for inclusion in digital media applications.

You will learn about the animation and digital effects industry, and will develop plans to promote and package the skills and services you develop.

You will also learn about using effective communication, customer liaison skills, and will become familiar with occupational health and safety requirements for this industry sector.

Career Opportunities: Assistant 3D designer, assistant 3D concept artist, assistant digital matte painter, 3D animator, 3D modeller, 3D games artist.

Articulation: When you finish this course you may be eligible to do the 3D Animation and Digital Effects Diploma (91277NSW) at the Silicon Graphics Centre, or similar courses offered by other training centres located in other states.

Entry Requirements: Completion of Year 12 with a minimum of 10 units in the NSW HSC Record of Achievement (or equivalent statement from another educational authority), plus basic computer literacy (eg Windows, internet, keyboarding). Students should also have enthusiasm, aptitude and motivation to succeed in the animation field.

International students must have English proficiency to a level of TOEFL (550), IELTS (5.5) or CULT (60) or equivalent.
