This course is for people who want to work in the film and television industry in a variety of support roles in technical operations and production. You will gain a grounding of specialised skills in editing, animation, camera, sound production, or television for short film production, or skills in specialised operating areas of studio and location television.

You will learn to plan a production; set up required sound, lighting and camera equipment; and work effectively as a member of a production crew. You will also learn how to create digital 2D and 3D animation; how to select and edit footage for post-production; how to record; edit and mix sound; and how to collaborate with others in the planning, developing and finalising of a screen production. You will develop a working knowledge of the Australian film and television industry, how to work safely, and use effective communication skills.

Career Opportunities: Assistant operator, editing assistant, professional assistant.

Articulation: When you finish this course you can continue on to further and related studies in film, television or other media.

Entry Requirements: Satisfactory completion of Year 12 (or equivalent statement from another educational authority).
