This course is for people who want to acquire a limited range of technical and theoretical skills needed to work in a production oriented environment within the clothing and fashion industry. Depending on the electives selected, you will learn about different areas of the clothing and fashion industry, including:
- production processes such as laying cutting, machining, garment construction, pressing and finishing;
- identifying and selecting fabrics;
- introductory design theory and pattern modification.
Competitive Manufacturing units appropriate for clothing production operators can also be selected for study in this course, on the basis of your job aspirations or work requirements.

Career Opportunities: Junior production assistant, sewing machinist, dispatch operator, cutter, presser, finisher, clothing operator.

Articulation: When you finish this course you may be eligible to do the LMT20706 Certificate II in Clothing Production (Complex or Multiple Processes), TAFE NSW Course no 19502 or LMT30506 Certificate III in Clothing Production, TAFE NSW Course no 19053.
