This course will provide you with the skills to work in an administrative role in medical environment.  You will learn about using medical terminology, medical billing, medical records, maintaining stock supplies and applying the principles of confidentiality in a medical environment.

Career Opportunities/Vocational Outcomes: The course is suitable for you if you wish to work as a Medical Receptionist, Medical Records Clerk or Medical Secretary.

Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply to do BSB40507 Certificate IV in Business Administration, TAFE NSW Course no: 17808 or a range of other certificate IV qualifications.

Entry requirements: Preferred pathways into this qualification include:

  • evidence of competency in the majority of units required for BSB20107 Certificate II in Business or other relevant qualifications or equivalent

or

  • with some vocational experience assisting in a range of support roles without a formal business qualification. Examples of indicative job roles if seeking entry based upon vocational experience include administration assistant, clerical worker, data entry operator, information desk clerk, office junior, receptionist. This breadth of expertise would equate to the competencies required to undertake this qualification.

Units: To achieve this qualificaiton you must complete 13 units of competency made up of 2 compulsory units and 11 elective units.

Sub-group 2: Occupational Health and Safety units: only 1 module/unit must be completed:

Group 2: Elective units: Sub-groups 1 and 2 must be completed. At least 11 modules/units must be completed.
