TDM20307 Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Coastal Maritime Operations - Coxswain)

This course is for people who want to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to work as a coxswain.

You will learn to take charge of vessels less than 12 metres in length and with engines up to 250kW, operating within inshore limits (up to 15 nautical miles from the coast).

Evidence of sea time/service on board a vessel will be required to obtain a Certificate of Competency from the state regulatory authority.

Career Opportunities/Vocational Outcomes: Coxswain. The next career step for a person with this qualification is to become a Master Class 5. An alternative pathway would be to undertake marine engine driver qualifications commencing at Marine Engine Driver Grade 3. These career options are available upon gaining further sea experience and undertaking additional courses: - TDM30407 Certificate III in Transport and Distribution (Coastal Maritime Operations - Master Class 5), TAFE course no: 17448 or TDM20207 Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Marine Engine Driving - Grade 3), TAFE course no: 17445.

Articulation: When you finish this course you may apply for advanced standing in TDM30407 Certificate III in Transport and Distribution (Coastal Maritime Operations - Master Class 5), TAFE course no: 17448.

Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this course.
