This course is for people wanting to work as Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 on board commercial vessels with engines up to 250kW operating offshore and/or 500kW operating inshore.
You will learn how to take charge of the machinery aboard a seagoing vessel where the main propulsion machinery does not exceed 500kW.
Evidence of sea time/service on board a vessel will be required to obtain a Certificate of Competency from the state regulatory authority.
Career Opportunities/Vocational Outcomes: Engine Driver Grade 3 (MED 3). The next career step for a person with this qualification is to become a Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 (MED 2).
