This course provides pre-employment training for people who are seeking an apprenticeship or traineeship in the automotive mechanical/electrical service and repair industry, but have been unable to secure one. In this course you will learn the basic operating principles of automotive systems and acquire the skills and knowledge to perform some basic service procedures.
Career Opportunities: On completion of this course you may be able to gain an apprenticeship or traineeship as an Automotive Light Vehicle Mechanic, Automotive Heavy Vehicle Road Transport Mechanic, Automotive Motorcycle Mechanic or an Automotive Service Mechanic.
Articulation: Successful completion of this course will achieve units of competence from the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package (AUR05). This qualification and the units of competence will be recognised in Certificate II and Certificate III courses such as AUR20505 Certificate II in Automtoive Vehicle Servicing - Light Vehicle, TAFE course no: 9002, AUR30405 Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology - Light Vehicle, TAFE course no: 9003, AUR30405 Certificate III in Automotive Technology - Heavy Vehicle Road Transport, TAFE course no: 5771 and AUR30405 Certificate III in Automotive Technology- Motorcycle, TAFE course no: 5614.
