This qualification is for apprentice or trainee heavy vehicle mechanics in the earth moving and industrial equipment service industry. You will work on equipment such as tractors, bulldozers and loaders. You will learn how the various systems operate, and how to maintain, test, diagnose, and repair those systems and components.
Career Opportunities: Successful completion of this qualification would enable you to be employed as a heavy vehicle motor mechanic (mobile equipment) in the automotive industry.
Articulation: You may be eligible for advance standing in this qualification if you have successfully completed any units of competence or Certificate II or Certificate III qualifications from the Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training Package AUR05.
Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for this qualification. The learner must be employed or have access to a workplace in the heavy vehicle mobile equipment service and repair industry to be able to gain sufficient experience to successfully complete the unit of competence requirements.
