This course is for people working in the automotive industry who want a career as a service mechanic who have entered into a training agreement. In this course you will learn how to service the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake and electrical systems and components.
Career Opportunities: Successful completion of this course would enable you to be employed as a service mechanic in the automotive industry.
Articulation: Successful completion of this course will achieve units of competency from the Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training Package AUR05. This qualification and the units will be recognised in other Certificate II and Certificate III courses such as the AUR20405 Certificte III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Light Vehicle), TAFE course no: 9003, the AUR30405 Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Road Transport), TAFE course no: 5771 and the AUR30405 Certificate III in Automtive Mechanical Technology (Motorcycle), TAFE course no: 5614.
Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for this course. The learner must be employed as a trainee in the light vehicle automotive service industry to be able to gain sufficient experience to achieve the units of competence requirements.
