This course is for people working in the automotive industry who want a career as an automotive light vehicle mechanic who have entered into a training agreement. You will learn how to service, repair and diagnose faults in motor vehicles weighing up to 4.5 tonnes. You will learn how to diagnose, service and repair faults in light vehicle engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake and electrical systems and components.

Career Opportunities: Successful completion of this course, with the relevant work experiences would enable you to be employed as a light vehicle motor mechanic in the automotive service and repair industry.

Articulation: Succesful completion of this course will achieve units of competence from the Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training Package AUR05. This qualification and the units will be recognised in other Certificte III and Certificate IV courses such as AUR30405 Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Road Transport), TAFE course no: 5771, AUR30505 Certificate III in Marine (Mechanical),TAFE course no: 6999, and AUR40205 Certificate IV in Automotive Technology (Mechanical), TAFE course no: 9004.

Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for this course. The learner must be employed as an apprentice in the automotive light vehicle service and repair industry to gain sufficient experience to achieve the units of competence requirements.
