This course is for Aboriginal people who work or who want to work as Aboriginal Education Assistants. You will learn how to apply strategies for dealing with racism in schools, identify opportunities for incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum, and communicate effectively in writing for school and community purposes. You will also learn how to use appropriate Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communication strategies to negotiate, deal with conflict and liaise within the school and community.

Articulation: When you finish this course you may be eligible for advanced standing in 90809NSW Certificate III in Aboriginal Education Assistants, TAFE course no: 4133, 90813NSW Certificate III in Aboriginal Studies and Diploma of Aboriginal Studies Diploma, TAFE course no: 4166.

Entry Requirements: Aboriginality is an essential requirement for entry into this course.
