This course is for people with existing Auslan skills. It introduces you to some interpreting situations to enable you to meet the language entry requirements for the Interpreting Diploma.
You will be able to demonstrate a range of vocabulary and grammar skills in Auslan (both receptive and expressive) to meet a range of social demands and general work requirements in the areas of education, health and employment.
Career Opportunities/Vocational Outcomes: On completion of this course and 90008NSW Course in Interpreting Preparatory, Paraprofessional Level and successful accreditation by NAATI you can work as a paraprofessional interpreter.
Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply to do the Diploma of Interpreting (LOTE) (50940), TAFE course no: 3000.
Entry Requirements: Year 10 or equivalent plus production and comprehension skills in Auslan at Level 2, Auslan Proficiency Rating Scale e.g. have completed either a Certificate I or II in Auslan
