Statement of Attainment in HSC Preliminary Studies

Qualification: Statement of Attainment (AQF)
TAFE NSW Course No: 6501

The Statement of Attainment in HSC Preliminary Studies is for people who have completed 12 units of Preliminary study for the Higher School Certificate (HSC) through TAFE NSW, and who want acknowledgement of this study from TAFE NSW as well as receiving the NSW Board of Studies Record of Achievement.

Your study program will depend on your previous experience and the amount of time you can spend studying for the Preliminary courses in the HSC. There is a broad range of Preliminary general education and vocational courses to choose from, offered in the day or evening.

The Board of Studies has developed the HSC curriculum comprising the Preliminary and HSC courses, and is responsible for managing completion requirements including the final HSC examinations. The Board of Studies awards the HSC credential and the Preliminary Record of Achievement. To study the HSC Preliminary courses through TAFE NSW you select a program of study to suit your needs. Preliminary course assessment results achieved in your TAFE NSW study are reported by TAFE NSW to the Board of Studies as part of the minimum satisfactory completion requirements of 12 units for the Preliminary Record of Achievement. HSC & Tertiary Preparation Programs booklets are available at www.tafensw.edu.au/flexible/hsc.htm. You can seek advice from any TAFE NSW campus and from TAFE NSW Counsellors.

Career Opportunities: You may have the opportunity, on completion of the Preliminary courses in the Higher School Certificate, to enter the workforce or to apply for certain VET courses at TAFE NSW.

Articulation: This course articulates into the Certificate III in HSC Studies (91146NSW). Credit transfer into other VET courses may be available depending on general education and vocational electives selected.

Entry Requirements: The NSW School Certificate, or Certificate II in General and Vocational Education (CGVE) (90279NSW), or equivalent. Before final course enrolment, there is a compulsory information/counselling session and/or interview to ensure that the course is appropriate.
