This course is for people who work or who want to work in educational settings as a Teachers Aide (Special).
You will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to assist teachers working with learners with special needs.
The course consists of a compulsory core with electives covering a range of learners' needs.
Career Opportunities: Teacher's Aide (Special).
Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply for advanced standing in competencies in disabilities and children's services in the Community Services Training Package.
Entry Requirements: There is no formal educational requirement however participants should be aware that they will need sufficient oral and written fluency in English to be able to easily communicate with teachers and students. Participants must have access to a relevant workplace either as a paid worker or in a voluntary capacity.

Applying and enrolling: This course will be offered as a TAFE PLUS commercial course.
Campuses:
Kempsey - Flexible delivery - 4 x Saturday workshops (one per term) plus flexible delivery materials plus phone number and email support. Extra tutorials may be offered if needed.
Cost: $1800 split into 4 payments of $450.
Students must be working in a paid or voluntary capacity in a school at least one day per week. Each applicant will be assessed to ensure they have the literacy levels to complete the course.
