Statement of Attainment in Fabrication Techniques

Qualification: Statement of Attainment (NRT)
Training Package
: MEM05 Metal and Engineering Industry
TAFE NSW Course No: 17525

This course is for people requiring the knowledge and skills to work or seek employment as a metal fabricator in an engineering or allied manufacturing field. You will develop the knowledge and practical skills to interpret engineering drawings; mark out material using a range of geometric development techniques; and use a wide range of hand/power tools, forming and shaping equipment and joining methods to fabricate and assesmble metal components as required by industry. This course is designed to accommodate both off-the-job training and on-the-job training and experience. The duration of this program of study will vary depending on the competency unit(s) selected.

Career Opportunities: When you have completed this you will have developed the fabrication and forming skills to work in a wide range of light (sheet metal) and heavy fabrication industries, manufacturing, ducting, structural steelwork, pipe/tube work or pressure vessel industries.

Articulation: The units of competence in this Statement of Attainment will articulate into Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication) and Certificate IV in Engineering specialising in fabrication and welding competencies. Both courses are apprenticeship programs and count towards a diploma in trade training.

Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this Statement of Attainment.
