This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in building and premises. It includes the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) requirements for an "Electrician's licence".
Career opportunities/Vocational outcomes: Electrician
This qualification meets the NSW office of Fair Trading's requirements for issuing a Qualified Supervisor's Certificate - Electrician. This permits the holder to work unsupervised on the fixed wiring and equipment in domestic, commercial and industrial premises, and to supervise others in this work.
Articulation: When you finish this course you may be eligible to do one of the Certificate IV level qualifications in the UEE07 Electrotechnology Training Package.
Entry Requirements: These are no formal educational requirements for this course however, a strong ability in maths and comprehension at Year 10 standard is expected. You must be in relevant employment, usually with a contract of training.
Alternative exit points: Students who do not complete all of the requirements for this course may be eligible to be awarded a certificate II level qualification, but this will not allow you to work unsupervised on the fixed wiring of buildings. Additional charges apply.
