This course is for trainees working in the food processing industry who want to gain skills in the operations and practices relevant to their workplace.

You will develop skills and knowledge to enable you to work safely and efficiently in running food manufacturing processes, to assist others in their work and/or supervise others. You will also learn how to monitor the implementation of a food safety program and a quality program as well as monitor occupational health and safety systems and procedures.

All the food processing industry sectors, including aerated waters, biscuits, confectionery, dairy processing, edible oils and fats, eggs, flour milling, fruit and vegetables, general foods, honey, ice, pastry, pet food, poultry, stock-feed milling, tea and coffee, are covered by this course. You can select units appropriate to your workplace.

Career Opportunities: Advanced food processing operator.

Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply for advanced standing in Food Processing Certificate IV 3389 Version 2 or Certificate IV in Food Processing 6445 Version 2. The latter course meets the NSW Certificate IV traineeship requirements.

Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for this course. Must either be employed in the food industry or have access to relevant plant and equipment.
