This course is for people who want to develop the skills and knowledge needed to work under limited supervision as a skilled operator or tradesperson in the horticulture industry.

You will complete a range of general horticulture modules and may choose electives from a range of industry specific modules.

Career Opportunities: General horticulturist, arborist, floriculturist, landscaper, nursery person, gardener, greenkeeper.

Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply for advanced standing in RTF40103 Certificate IV in Horticulture, TAFE course no: 1587.

Entry Requirements: NSW School Certificate (or equivalent statement from another educational authority) and relevant work experience, or
RTF20103 Certificate II in Horticulture or any of the Certificate II in Horticulture specialisations, or relevant workplace or other appropriate experience.

Applications may also be considered from persons who do not satisfy the above criteria but who can provide evidence that they are capable of achieving the outcomes of this course at AQF Certificate III level. It is strongly recommended that applicants complete a Certificate II in Horticulture before undertaking this course.

To complete the course and receive RTF30103 Certificate III in Horticulture learners must complete a minimum of 16 units: - complete all core units and complete at least 12 units or up to a maximum of 15 units in Electives. At least 12 of the units selected for this qualification MUST relate to general horticultural work procedures, activities or contexts. In addition, at least 12 units selected must align to Certificate III outcomes. Learners may be required to complete additional units from the Bridging Group as deemed necessary by the course enrolment officer.

Semester 1, 2009: North Coast Institute Application Form by 31 October 2008. Late Applications will be accepted but places are limited.

Campuses:

Coffs Harbour Education Campus - Part-time day. 1 day per week for 3 years
or
2 days per week for 1 year, plus 1 day per week for 2nd year.
Students will need to indicate their preference for Nursery or Landscape/Parks stream of study.

Taree - You need to have completed RTF20103 Certificate II in Horticulture, TAFE Course no: 1514 or be a trainee to enrol in this course.
Part-time day, one day per week for 36 weeks.

Wauchope - For students who have completed RTF20103 Certificate II in Horticulture or have existing industry experience.
Industry areas include: Landscape, Parks & Gardens and Nursery Part-time day, 1 days per week (7 hours) for 36 weeks.
