This course is for people who want to work in marine related industries which may include marine tours, diving industry, public aquaria/oceanaria, marine research support and marine parks.
You will learn about the duties associated with aquarium care and maintenance, scuba diving, small vessel operation and outboard motor maintenance. You will also learn about marine biology, habitats, conservation and interpreting the weather.
On successful completions students will receive:
- Certificate III in Marine Studies
Educational requirements needed to apply to NSW Waterways for a General Purpose Deckhand qualification; - Senior First Aid certificate;
- PADI dive qualification.
Career Opportunities: Marine research assistant, field technicians, charter boat deckhand and marine tour guides.
Articulation: When you finish this course you may articulate into a range of seafood industry qualifications including aquaculture and seafood processing. You may apply for further articulation into degree and diploma programs relating to Marine Science at Australian Universities including Southern Cross, James Cook and UNSW (Marine Biology).
Entry Requirements: NSW School Certificate or equivalent, relevant workplace experience, or other appropriate experience.

Campuses:
Coffs Harbour - Full-time, 3 - 4 day per week for 18 weeks with some weekend field trips. Laboratory work will be conducted at the National Marine Science Centre.
Course related charges of $853 apply to this course, (although this will be reduced if you have current dive qualifications).
