This course is for people in the organic production/agriculture/horticulture industry with some expertise who want to develop advanced technical and supervisory skills. It also provides the underpinning knowledge required to apply these skills in the workplace. You will learn how to organise and coordinate the procedures employees in the organic production/agriculture/horticulture industry must carry out as well as learning technical skills that a senior employee/supervisor in an organic production enterprise should have. You will also be able to implement and monitor occupational health, safe working practices and quality assurance practices to industry standards.
This course is also suitable for owners of organic production operations who want to enhance their technical and supervisory knowledge and skills. You will be able to apply these skills in farming organic produce and the management of organic enterprises. This program allows you to develop skills and knowledge in supervising/ managing organic production programs, producing marketable goods to meet customer specifications, applying quality assurance practices to industry standards, and maintaining the sustainability of the enterprise according to National Organic Standards. This course has been developed for supervisors and managers in meeting the increasing demand for organic production, resolving issues of sustainable agricultural production, and to ensure conformity to national standards for organic and biodynamic production.
Career Opportunities: Organic production foreman, farm overseer, farm foreman or farm supervisor.
Articulation: When you finish this course you may be able to apply for advanced standing in RTE50103 Diploma of Agriculture (Organic Production) 0900.
Entry Requirements: NSW School Certificate (or equivalent) or completion of Certificate III in Agriculture or equivalent, or relevant workplace or other appropriate experience.
