SIT60307 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality

This course is for people who want to work as a senior manager in the hospitality industry.

You will learn how to plan and control a range of hospitality products; market the establishment to customers; manage the maintenance and renewal of equipment, premises and outlets; maintain business compliance within legislative requirements; manage financial operations; and develop effective business plans. You will also learn how to lead, supervise and manage teams of people. You must complete 30 core modules plus elective modules to make up the required 20 units of competency.

Career Opportunities: This course is a pathway to the SIT60307 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality, which is a qualification of the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package (SIT07). The qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to be competent as a senior manager in any hospitality functional area. You will develop skills to analyse, design and execute judgements using wide ranging technical, creative, conceptual or managerial competencies. Your knowledge base may be specialised or broad. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality settings such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee
shops.Food and beverage manager, secretary/manager, café or small restaurant owner, motel owner /manager.

Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply to do a Hospitality Management degree or similar at a range of universities. You can also get advanced standing in a range of other diplomas or advanced diplomas at TAFE NSW.

Entry Requirements: Satisfactory completion of Year 12 with a minimum of 10 HSC units (or equivalent statement from another educational authority). OR Completion of THH51202 Diploma of Hospitality Management. Note: LEARNERS SELECTING MODULES THAT INVOLVE HANDLING ALCOHOL MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO COMPLY WITH THE NSW LIQUOR ACT.

Student Selection: Your application will be assessed using the following criteria: 1. Previous education and training 2. Relevant workplace and life experience, including part-time, casual and voluntary work 3. Relevance of course to further learning and/or career plans.

Campuses:

Port Macquarie - Full-time, 3 days per week for 36 weeks. Monday to Thursday, 9.00 am to 3.00 pm with 2 Friday classes from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm for RCG & Hygiene for 18 weeks. RSA will also be offered to those students who don't already have it. Students will be required to attend restaurant service classes from 4.30 pm to 9.00 pm - 1 to 2 nights per week for approximately 9 weeks. (TAFE NSW Application code: 181161201)
