This course is for people who want to apply for a restaurant or nightclub licence. It is a requirement of the Department of Gaming and Racing that people applying for a restaurant or nightclub licence complete this course. You will learn the legal requirements for operating a restaurant or nightclub, including responsible service of alcohol. You will also learn about workplace hygiene, financial management, business planning and staffing, and industrial relations matters relevant to restaurants and nightclubs. This course also includes information about menu planning, hygiene, operating a bar and stock control.
Career Opportunities: Manager or owner of a licensed restaurant or nightclub.
Articulation: When you finish this course you can get advanced standing in Hospitality (Operations) Certificate II 9542.
Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for this course. Must be eligible to hold a liquor, restaurant or night club licence. The NSW Liquor Act and the NSW Gaming Machines Act require students to be 18 years of age or older if they are undertaking modules that involve the service of alcohol and gaming operations. To comply with these legislative requirements, students must be 18 years of age or older to undertake the following modules in this course: 6650A Responsible Service of Alcohol MUST PRODUCE PHOTOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION AT TIME OF ENROLMENT (eg photo driver's licence). Recognition of Prior Learning 6650A Responsible Service of Alcohol needs to be from a Liquor Administration Board approved provider.
