This course is for people employed as trainees in the hospitality industry or who want to work at the operative level in a range of hospitality establishments including fast food outlets, coffee shops, take-away facilities, restaurants, function centres, hotels, clubs and casinos.

You will learn about the hospitality industry and will develop your customer service and communication skills, along with a wide range of skills relevant to the functional area and vocational outcome selected.

You will also learn how to present yourself for work in this industry. You will need to have access to an appropriate workplace or simulated workplace environment during the course. Your campus will help you with this.

Career Opportunities: Kitchen assistant, food and beverage attendant, bar attendant, waiter, cook's assistant, room attendant, front office attendant, bar/bottle shop attendant, porter or gaming attendant.

Articulation: When you finish the course you may be eligible to do THH42602 Certificate IV in Hospitality (Supervision), TAFE NSW course no: 9544, THH31502 Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery, TAFE NSW Course no: 2674 or THH42502 Certificate IV in Hospitality (Catering Operations), TAFE NSW course no 2677.

Entry Requirements: NSW School Certificate (or equivalent, from another educational authority). LEARNERS SELECTING MODULES THAT INVOLVE HANDLING ALCOHOL MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO COMPLY WITH THE NSW LIQUOR ACT.
