Recognition of Overseas qualifications
If you hold qualifications gained overseas, TAFE NSW will carefully consider them so that you may use them for "advanced standing". Advanced standing means that you will not have to repeat study you have already done in another country. Advice can be sought from the Multicultural Education Coordinator or a Counsellor at any North Coast Institute Campus. Your documents and qualifications will need to be certified, and must be in English or translated into English. If you are seeking advanced standing and you cannot provide sufficient documentation, you may be required to do a challenge activity to demonstrate your skills.
Translations can be done by the following organisations:
Translating and Interpreting Service
Ph: 131 450
Community Relations Commission for a multicultural NSW
Ph: 1300 651 500
Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA)
Ph: 131 881
Website: http://www.immi.gov.au
DIMIA provides translations free of charge for persons who have been Australian permanent residents for less than two years. In NSW, applications for translations can be lodged at providers of the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP).
