Student stories
Our students come from all over the world.
Here are some of their stories.
Manami Okazaki - Japan
“I am studying English at the Port Macquarie campus and then I plan to study hospitality.
Eventually, I would like to work at an international hotel in Australia.
I heard about Port Macquarie TAFE from my technical college teacher who said it was very secure and beautiful.
There are also not very many Japanese people here, which means it is a great place to learn English and meet new friends. The local people are very friendly.
It is also a very beautiful town, with beautiful beaches.”
Songpon Chooiam - Thailand
“I love going to the North Coast Institute of TAFE and would fully recommend coming here and studying, I like it very much.
“I expect to complete my Diploma in Hospitality Management soon and hope to work here in hospitality, either in a restaurant or hotel.
Port Macquarie TAFE is a great place to learn English, make more friends and the teachers are also excellent.”
Manisone Saysongkham - Laos PDR
“This is the perfect place to study because it consists of a very good location, varied food and the people are very helpful and friendly.
If you come here you will love it.
I am studying English at Port Macquarie then I will continue my studies in Grafton, in conservation and land management.
I enjoy studying here very much because all the staff are very helpful and my classmates are friendly.
The study program is also well-organised. The experiences that learners gain from their course will improve their work and efficiency in the future.”
Laxmi Advani - India
Laxmi Advani is an international student from India studying the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management at North Coast Institute, Kingscliff Campus. She started the course in February 2005 and will complete the course at the end of 2006. Laxmi says that she was only 18 years old when she came to Australia from Mumbai, India. Whilst she was in her final year of school she needed to make a decision on her career. “I attended an International Educational Fair where I found out about the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management at North Coast Institute’s Kingscliff Campus,” says Laxmi. She then spoke to her parents and a careers adviser and the decision was unanimous - study in Australia at the North Coast Institute.
