BETTYE FORD

Winner – 2005 Student Achievement Award In The General Education Faculty

Bettye first came to TAFE three or four years ago to improve her literacy and numeracy skills and in 2004 successfully completed the Tertiary Preparation Certificate, achieving a TES of 217.

She has been described by her teachers as being a model student, hard working, encouraging to others and a delight in the classroom. She put considerable work into the course across all subject areas and far exceeded initial expectations of study.

Now studying a Certificate IV in Welfare, Bettye was heavily involved in campus life, became president of the student association, was a mentor to younger TPC students, contributing significantly to their success and was recipient of a Mick Young scholarship in 2004.

Mentoring disadvantaged members of the community has now become a passion for this very worthy Student Achievement Award winner
