First Deadly Days Festival ‘a deadly success’

The three Deadly Days Festivals staged by North Coast TAFE’s North Coast Aboriginal Learning Partnerships (NCALP) in late October has been described a ‘deadly success’ by organisers and attendees alike.

Over 1,500 students from 125 schools all over the NSW North Coast flocked to the festivals, which had around 150 exhibitors and performers all up providing the education engagement activities on the day.

“We also had over 250 Elders come along and take part,” says Director, North Coast Aboriginal Learning Partnerships Mr Tony Dreise, “and many commented positively about how the Festivals really brought local communities together.”

The ‘Deadly Days’ Festivals were part of the Australian Government’s Community Festivals for Education Engagement initiative and is a targeted opportunity for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander school students in Years 6 to 12  - especially Years 8 to 10 – to participate.
