Partnership to focus on employment based training
Thursday 30 October, 2003
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed today between the North Coast Institute of TAFE and the Hunter Valley Training Company will deliver a continued focus on employment based training throughout the North Coast.
The MOU ensures a commitment from both organisations to work together to offer excellence in vocational education, training and employment. This means providing employers with a simple and efficient system for locating trained staff and increasing the opportunities for potential employees to pursue training and career goals.
According to North Coast Institute Director, Neil Black the MOU can invigorate employment based training for communities throughout the North Coast.
“This partnership means both organisations are taking a collective approach to addressing the communities continuing need to improve skills levels, enhance employment opportunities and embrace new career choices.
“In practical terms we will look to maximise shared training resources and generate efficiencies for employers to find trained staff and potential apprentices or trainees to undertake the training they need to capitalise on career opportunities. It is this sort of partnership that allows us to meet the needs of communities throughout the North Coast,” said Mr Black.
The Hunter Valley Training Company (incorporating Mid Coast, North Coast and Northern Rivers Group Training Companies) recruits and negotiates contracts for apprentices and trainees. These people are placed in suitable host employment where they are able to gain on-the-job skills and proficiency.
Mr Peter Shinnick, General Manager Hunter Valley Training Company says, “This means that either employers or potential employees can come to us to match their requirements with training and employment. By renewing our commitment to working together with the North Coast Institute we are able to liaise effectively, maximise training and employment opportunities and therefore offer the community improved services.”
