Local stars of the future performing at Tacking Point Tavern

24 June 2003

If you’ve ever thought you’d like to join a band or you want to start performing your music this gig is sure to inspire you. Local students enrolled in the North Coast Institute of TAFE, Certificate III music course at Wauchope, will be showing just how it’s done at the Tacking Point Tavern July 4, from 8pm.

The gig is a chance for the band to get valuable performance experience before starting their second semester studies which will look at the business side of music and recording technology.

The course, taught by experienced teachers who are in the music industry, covers a broad subject range allowing accomplished players and composers, as well as relative newcomers to increase both their practical and music industry skills. Basic music literacy, composition, recording, performance techniques and instrument studies are woven into the course, which offers a strong platform for the budding musician to find their niche and exploit their talent within the music industry.

The class of 2003 is made up of a broad range of ages (seventeen-forty eight) all with differing music styles and experience. The thing they all share is an intense love of music which will be more than evident at the Tavern gig. Covers of contemporary songs will be the order of the night, mixed in with some original material. So come along and enjoy some great live music as well as supporting local music talent. You never know, there might be a few stars in the making!
