Computer and Culinary Skills Come Together in Book Launch17 June 2004 Students at the TAFE NSW’s North Coast Institute Wauchope Campus will be revealing not only their computer skills, but also their culinary skills at the launching of their Recipe Book at 12 noon on Friday 25 June. This innovative and creative publication is the culmination of a student-designed class project aimed at showcasing the skills gained over the past five months in the Computer Applications for the Office Certificate 2 course. The book will feature a variety of student and staff recipes that are not only family favourites, but also delicious and economical. “The students have worked very hard during the semester, and the proof is in the pudding as they say”, said teacher Ms Evelyn Doak. “As part of the project the students had to design the layout of the book as well as coordinating the graphics that appear throughout.” Ms Doak said “the Computer Applications for the Office course is generally for people who want to work as clerical or office assistants, or for people who need to improve their skills and retrain in computer applications for clerical jobs. But it’s also a great course to help people get back into the employment market or for those who simple want to know more about the Microsoft Office suite of programs”. Hastings Mayor Rob Drew, his wife Lyn and ex Councillor Cecily Yeo OAM will be official guests at the launch. After the official launch at 12 noon, guests will be treated to a complimentary tasting of all recipes reproduced in the book. The public are invited to attend to see what the students have achieved, chat to them about the course and find out more information on what other courses are available.
