Free training that could make a difference for Yamba communityTAFE NSW – North Coast Institute is pleased to announce a free WorkSkills course for people living in the Yamba area who could benefit from learning a range of organisational and planning skills. General Education teacher Simon Dickinson from Maclean Campus says that the course is designed to help people boost personal effectiveness. Mr Dickinson says “The course helps with not just everyday skills like writing and using computers, but also with organising and planning skills…we even go into some depth into helping people create simple web pages and eye-catching presentation packages. And, to raise our energy levels, relax and focus we start each Tuesday with a yoga session!” Members of fund-raising committees, P & Cs, and anyone who may have to plan, promote and produce a community event like a market, fete, workshop or festival will benefit from doing a course. Alternatively, Mr Dickinson says, the course can make a difference to your resume and your employability because of the practical skills it provides. “In the past, students have told us what a huge difference it made, doing the course – and they’d particularly remark on how much fun it was.” says Mr Dickinson. The course consists of two 6 hour sessions each week, Tuesdays and Thursdaysat the Treelands Drive Community Centre at Yamba An information session is on Tuesday 19th October at 9.30 at the Treelands Drive Community Centre or for further information phone Simon at Maclean Campus 66454244. |
