Lismore TAFE staff member receives state award
Wednesday 9 November 2005
Peter Jarrett, the Marketing Services Officer at TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute’s Lismore Campus, received a School and TAFE NSW Administrative and Support Staff Recognition Award last night at a cocktail function in Sydney.
Presented by Andrew Cappie-Wood, the Director-General of the NSW Department of Education and Training and Managing Director of TAFE NSW, the award recognised Mr Jarrett’s outstanding contribution by providing customer service to both internal and external clients. Mr Thomas George, MP, the state member for Lismore, took time out of his busy Parliamentary schedule to attend the event and see a member of his local community receive recognition.
Neil Black, Institute Director for the North Coast Institute said that Mr Jarrett developed exceptional working relationships with schools and industry across the region. “Peter is in high demand to give presentations on TAFE NSW products and services to community and business groups and to senior school students and parents in the Northern Rivers region,” said Mr Black.
Mr Black added that there were only ten recipients of this award in 2005. “When you consider that there are more than 10,000 administration and support staff in schools and TAFE NSW campuses around NSW, this is an extraordinary achievement.”
Mr Jarrett said that he found working at the North Coast Institute, with its supportive and encouraging culture, made it easier for him to carry out entrepreneurial activities. “When I speak with passion and enthusiasm about our excellence in vocational education to our customers, it comes from the heart… and they can tell!”
