North Coast Institute ‘simply the best’

Friday 9th September

TAFE NSW-North Coast Institute has won three separate high-profile education awards this week.

On Thursday night, the Institute won the “Large Training Provider” award for the second time running in the 2005 State Training Awards held in Sydney. The awards were announced at a special Dinner in the Ballroom of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre with the Minister for Education and Training the Hon. Carmel Tebbutt, MLC in attendance. Ms Tebbutt congratulated the state’s top achievers saying that the NSW Training Awards recognise the achievements of students, apprentices, trainees, teachers, trainers and employers.

“The 12 winners have shown tremendous talent and excellence in their chosen fields, and I congratulate each of them on their achievements. These awards are highly valued by industry leaders, and highlight the very best of vocational education and training in NSW.”

At almost the same time as that win was announced, the Institute also received an Award of Distinction in the Tourism Education and Training category in the 2005 North Coast Tourism Awards held at Port Macquarie. On Tuesday night in Lismore, the Institute won the Tourism Education and Training award in the 2005 Northern Rivers Tourism Training Awards.

Neil Black, Institute Director, said “I’m thrilled – these three awards are proof positive that the North Coast Institute is simply the best training provider on the North Coast. Knowing how hard our teachers, and our administrative and support staff work, I can only say that the three awards are just rewards for their outstanding efforts in the past few years.”

Mr Black said that this 2005 State Award confirmed that “the strategies put into place some time ago to be a high-achieving registered training organisation are now bearing fruit.” Mr Black added “On top of these awards, the learning community is also voting with their feet because our enrolments are up noticeably compared to last year. So I urge anyone who has not yet considered leaning through the best training provider around to contact us and share in the experience.”

The other finalists in the NSW Large Training Provider category were TAFE NSW-Western Institute and TAFE NSW-Illawarra Institute.
