North Coast Institute wins regional Tourism Education and Training award

TAFE NSW-North Coast Institute won the Tourism Education and Training award in the 2005 Northern Rivers Tourism Awards held last night in Lismore.

Ziggy Mireis, the acting Manager of the International School of Hotel, Catering and Tourism Management, said “We are delighted to be recognised for the quality of our education and training in the tourism and hospitality industries in the Northern Rivers region.” Mr Mireis said that the teaching and support staff in the campuses at Kingscliff and Wollongbar were “outstanding in their passion, commitment, focus and sheer hard work” and this award was “their award.”

The International School has approximately 7 full-time teachers and 20 part-time teachers delivering courses across all facets of tourism and hospitality in its North Rivers campuses.

“The School uses a combination of on-campus simulated learning environments, training kitchens and classrooms and on-the-job delivery to deliver industry-relevant and practical training,” said Geoff Baldry, Director of Educational Programs and Services, “and this ensures that the tourism and hospitality industry in the Northern Rivers area is supplied with job-ready graduates.”
