Kiddies invited to play at TAFE

Friday 21st October

TAFE Children's Services students at Port Macquarie Campus are celebrating National Play Group Day on  25 October by inviting children from the community to a Play Session to be held on the oval at the Hindman St end of the Campus,  from 10:00 am until 12 noon.

Children's Services Course Coordinators, Gayle Beddoe and Rhian Hope, are aiming to provide students with hands-on experience with planning the event. They say that the opportunity for students to interact with children and carers is invaluable because theory and simulated learning experiences can be complemented with practical application.

Children’s Services Head Teacher, Sharen Marshall, believes the event not only provides students with the opportunity to observe and interact with children of various developmental stages and backgrounds but also provides TAFE the opportunity to showcase the excellent resources the Children's Service Unit has to facilitate providing quality Industry relevant training.

“We anticipate a morning full of fun for all participants,” says Ms Marshall. “There’ll be a variety of activities- we’re planning water play, craft activities, parachute games, face painting and of course no play session is complete without morning tea!”

If parents or carers would like their children to participate in the day they are asked to telephone Coordinators Gayl or Rhian on  65803568 to secure a place. Ms Marshall says “The only request we have is a parent or carer of each family needs to be able to stay on the oval while the Play Session is in operation.”
