Taree campus plays vital role in winning State Award

TAFE Taree Campus staff and local industry played a vital role in the North Coast Institute winning the Large Training Provider of the Year (2005) at the State Training Awards this month.
“The North Coast Institute has won this award two years running,” said Linda Mulchrone, Campus Manager at Taree, who attended the awards in Sydney. “As part of the selection process, the judging panel visited the Taree campus for a presentation and tour of the learning facilities and programs.”
Locus business and industry also participated by giving examples of the partnerships that have developed to up skill their staff and address the local skill shortages. Industry representation included, Neil Hanington and Daryl Hancock from Mid Coast Water, Russell Paine, Manning Valley Chamber of Commerce and David Paff.
United Goninan participated in the presentation and invited the judging panel to visit United Goninan to speak to the staff who have been undertaking education and training through the North Coast Institute, Taree Campus.
What the judging panel experiences at the Taree campus is replicated 17 times at all North Coast Institute campus sites from Great Lakes in the south to Kingscliff in the north.
Through this award, the North Coast Institute is being recognised consistently for excellence in delivering educational services in the state,” said Neil Black, Director of the Institute. “It is an outstanding tribute to the long-term hard work and commitment of the teaching, administrative and support staff throughout the Institute.”
“We set out some time ago to be a high-achieving registered training organisation, and the back-to-back recognition as NSW’s Best Large Training Provider confirms that we are well and truly on target,” said Mr. Black. “It has been a remarkable effort by our staff and I am proud to be part of such an extraordinary achievement.”
