Winning Hairdresser at TAFE
Friday October 27 2006
Natalie Smith, a hairdressing teacher at TAFE NSW - North Coast Institute’s Coffs Harbour Education Campus, took out the title of Senior Stylist 2006, in a hairdressing competition at Port Macquarie recently.
Natalie took part in the Northern Region hairdressing competition, pitting her skills against other competitors from large centres like Newcastle, Tamworth and Grafton.
In achieving the title of Senior Stylist 2006, Natalie took out places in individual competitions, such as 1st in Cut and Colour, Oceanic Master and Conversion Styling.
As part of her busy lifestyle, Natalie also operates her own hairdressing Salon, Nat’s Hairven, in Grafton, where she guides her apprentices to be among the next generation of champions. Notably, apprentice Carly Stevens, competed in the NSW WorldSkills competitions earlier this year under Natalie’s guidance.
Trish Field, head teacher of hairdressing at CHEC, says “Natalie is a highly qualified and experienced teacher and the hairdressing students and apprentices studying at CHEC have a truly excellent teacher, mentor and role model in Natalie”.
