Computer Generated Art

The graphic design students from TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute, Port Macquarie Campus have had a very productive and energetic year and showcase their work at the Graphic Design and Design Fundamentals Exhibition 2006.
“The students have been involved in a diverse range of activities from life drawing, to field trips with photography, exploring colour and media in their visual diaries, constructing large 3D objects, typography, developing visual communication skills and transferring these concepts into digital art” said Lorrae O’Brien, teacher.
The exhibition features the students' skills in the production of computer generated art developed in industry based software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design. 2D and 3D conceptual art and finished pieces created in traditional media such as paints, pencils, inks, watercolours, cardboard etc will also be on display. Lorrae said, “We have had numerous excursions into the community, to art galleries, on site locations and design workplaces to broaden their experience outside the classroom”.
The Design Fundamentals students completed five competencies over twelve weeks and some of the students are now applying for Graphic Design, Visual Arts andFashion Design and Technology. “They were successful in developingconcepts, visualising and applyingtheir new skills in answer to the briefs that were set for them”, said Carol Randall, Teacher.
The exhibition is being held in the Graduates Restaurant, C Block at Port Campus on Friday 24th November, 2006 at 6.00 pm. Refreshments will be cooked and prepared by the Café Skills students at Port Macquarie Campus.
