Each year TAFE NSW - North Coast Institute, Great Lakes Campus proudly showcases artwork produced by their Fine Arts students, finishing with the ‘Grand finale’ art exhibition which this year is titled “Blunt Pencils”. “Blunt Pencils” will be presented by students graduating from the Diploma in Fine Art.

This exhibition which is the culmination of work produced over a course of intensive study, will be sure to inspire and tantalize the mind and spirit. Artworks on display will include Painting, Drawing, Printmaking and Digital Imagery.

74 year old Edna Moseley, an exhibiting student who enrolled after a heart attack at 70 years said, “It has been an exciting and educational journey, it has opened up a new road to travel, meeting new friends and facing new experiences. Age is no barrier for learning and challenges.”

Staff and students invite the general public to join them from 6pm on Friday 1st December when “Blunt Pencils” will be officially opened. Talented local blues and instrumental band “Axis of Evil” will entertain guests during the course of the evening and light refreshments will be served.

The exhibition will be held in L Block at the Great Lakes Joint Education Campus, Northern Parkway, Tuncurry. Many of the artworks will be for sale and will remain on display until December 14. Opening times are Monday to Friday, 9am to 4 pm. Entry is free.

All teachers in the Fine Arts Section are proud to acknowledge the dedication and talents of these emerging artists.
