Landscaping at Huntington School
Thursday 23rd November
Horticulture Students from TAFE NSW-North Coast Institute’s Wauchope campus completed Landscaping works at the Huntington Primary School on Thursday 23rd November.
The Certificate II and III Horticulture students have constructed a large Concrete slab area for the Pupils and Staff to hold events on and also a pleasant area to have Lunch and recess.
The TAFE students have made several rock gardens and planted lots of colourful plants around the concrete area and also have started making a paved path for easy access.
Arboriculture students from the Wauchope TAFE campus have also visited the school, climbing the many Trees at the school and removing any dangerous or dead branches from the playground areas.
Up to thirty Horticulture students have been involved in projects at the school under the supervision of Landscape Teacher John Kennedy and Arbor Teacher Rodney Page, both from the Horticulture Section at Wauchope TAFE campus.
“This arrangement, where the school funds any purchase of materials and the TAFE NSW students supplies the labour as part of their studies in the Horticulture courses is a great partnership,” said Mr Kennedy. “Many thanks to the students for their hard work on the projects – it’s a great effort!”
Principal of Huntington Primary School, Gunnar Fuhrmann and his dedicated staff say that they are also very pleased with the joint venture between TAFE NSW and the school.
