Spring is in the Air at Comboyne
Friday 15 September 2006
The annual Spring Fair will be held at Comboyne on the weekend of 16 and 17 September and floristry students from TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute, Taree and Wauchope Campuses have contributed to the fair by constructing a display.
“The students designed and constructed the display as a group choosing a spring wedding, focusing on the wedding and reception,” said Teacher, Lindy Stricker.
“Included in the display are many arrangements, wedding bouquet, flowers for the guests at a wedding, cake decoration and arrangements suitable for a wedding function.”
In their course the seven students Petrina Budden, Mary Holland, Sarah Hudson, Cynthia Hurrell, Alison Mitchell, Megan Nicholson and Kathy Rogers are learning how to care for floristry stock and merchandise, prepare and display floristry stock, assemble and prepare floristry products, creating floristry designs using hand tied and wiring techniques.
“Members of the Native Flower Growers Association (Mid North Coast) contributed some of their product to the students which was used in the display and we would like to thank them for their support”, said Ms Stricker.
Anyone interested in becoming a florist and learning how to produce a range of floral products, contact Paul Smith, Head Teacher on 6585 3688 or 6591 3628.
Festivities commence at 3pm on Saturday 16 September with the official launch of both the Artist Residency project and the Fair in the Hall.
