TAFE NSW and Country Energy have embarked on a major training initiative to enhance the professional skills of over 500 employees during the next six months.
“In the next two years this could expand to over 2000 Country Energy employees undertaking training and skill recognition for a range of qualifications,” Deputy Director-General, TAFE and Community Education, Marie Persson said.
“A TAFE NSW consultant will be working full time with Country Energy to coordinate training for some key components of Country Energy’s training needs which will be provided by the 10 NSW TAFE Institutes.
“TAFE NSW is Australia’s largest training provider.
“Over the last decade, TAFE NSW has developed new products and markets to significantly increase commercial revenue and re-invest in service delivery,” Ms Persson said.
The TAFE NSW National Business Office, Institutes and Curriculum Centres will be involved in a range of projects including:
- Customised training delivered to Country Energy employees at locations across NSW including Port Macquarie, Bathurst, Broken Hill, Dubbo, Grafton, Leeton, Lismore, Tamworth, Queanbeyan and Wagga Wagga.
- Flexibly delivered training in a range of formats for Country Energy employees undertaking qualifications in Customer Contact Centres, Zone Substation Electrical Technicians, and team leaders
Country Energy has been implementing a competency framework for more than a year and is rolling it across all employees. This initiative builds on the work undertaken to date and will continue the commitment to employee development that ensures all employees have the latest information and technology required to provide excellent customer service to their customers.
